Mulloway, Kingfish and Wild-caught Stocks
A key focus of our mariculture operation is the cultivation and harvesting of Mulloway and Kingfish. We aim for an annual production of 72,000 kg from 1.5 hectares of ponds, tanks, and raceways. These fish, known for their high-quality meat, grow to a size of 300-400mm, within 10-12 months under optimal conditions.
Mulloway and Kingfish are prized for their firm texture and delicate flavor, making them popular in both domestic and international markets. The Kingfish, in particular, will be produced to sashimi-grade quality, catering to the high standards of Japanese cuisine and other premium seafood markets.
We also diversify our aquaculture portfolio with specialist fish, such as Coral Trout and Redfish, sourced from wild-caught stocks. These species are highly valued in the live export market. Aquarium species are also available for export around the globe and with the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist and experienced staff, we ensure the health and sustainability of the harvested species, meeting the stringent requirements of the aquarium trade.
Seaweed and Algae Farming
Kosrae Enterprises is also focused on seaweed and algae farming, recognizing the environmental benefits and commercial potential of these symbiotic activities. These products have broad applications in medical, food manufacturing, and chemical industries. With sustainable growth cycles, seaweed and algae can be harvested after 12 months, ensuring a renewable and profitable venture.
Seaweed and algae farming contribute to environmental sustainability through carbon sequestration and provide raw materials for various high-demand industries. The farming process itself is eco-friendly and low-maintenance, utilizing Kosrae’s natural fringed reef systems and lagoons.
